SPEECH FINALS

The speech finals were held on Tuesday last week and I have to say it was Pretty cool with a capital "P". When I got there I saw my WHOLE family was there. After I said hello to them all I was called up to the front to talk to Mr Freke (our principal) about what place where were going to be. My luck was not with me at that moment because I ended up second (noooooooooooooo) The 1st person to go was Edward, his speech was about the discovery of computers, The 3rd person to go was Karyna, who's speech was the discovery of... well lets just say... it was about the discovery of the wonderful TOILET who was discovered by Thomas Crapper.

Hahahahahahaha [cough] hahahahaha [sneeze] hahahahahahaha [burp] hahahahahahahahaha.

The 4th person was Libby who's speech was on the discovery of DINOS. Then the last person was Bella who's speech was on the Nazca Lines. Which are pretty freaky but if you want to learn about then go to her blog. When I got up to saying my speech, my knees were shaking, my teeth were chattering and my back was drenched with sweet. But I carried on anyway and I reckon I did pretty good. Anyway the speech that came third was Karyna which is weird 'cause I thought she would come first. The speech that came second was Edward and the person who came first was Bella and she truly deserved it. But when the judges said her name at the start he said the b sound and I thought it was me, but it wasn't.

Yeah, it was a pretty cool afternoon.

DISCOVERY SPEECH

Hey, Today I am going to talk about my AWESOMENESS speech in fact it was so awesomeness that it got into the speech semi finals and the finals. It would have to be pretty awesomeness to do that. My speech topic is on voyager 1 and 2, they are space probes that have made many discoveries and have been further than any other space craft or human being has been or seen on earth!!!I chose this speech topic because when I saw the video about it on You Tube it was so interesting and I really wanted to know more about. The more I researched and the more I knew about it the more interested I was. Before my speech I felt excited and glad that I had to present my speech 4th so I could get it done and over with. I never thought I'd be in the FINAL'S!!! After my speech I felt happy and surprised that everyone had laughed at my jokes in the speech. When I went to the speech semi finals it was even more scary than when I presented it to my class because this time there was 4x more people because it was the WHOLE senior syndicate. The judges were the senior syndicate teachers. When I said my speech to the senior syndicate I was literally SHAKING!!! But i have to admit it was pretty fun. The finals are tomorrow night and I am looking forward to it because heaps of my family are coming. I am still as scared as a bug that is about to be squashed. The thing I said to myself before the semi finals was really not that positive it was "the stage is my grave...the stage is my grave" But I guess it wasn't cause I am still alive and I am stilll typing...

right?

SPEECHES 2012

This week we are writing our speeches. It has to be about discovery. There were loads of choices but I chose voyager 1 and 2. Now right now I bet you are thinking "what is voyager 1 and 2" so I am going to type out my first draft here on this post. Hope you like it...

What would you spend 865 million dollars on?

NASA spent it on 2 space probes, Voyager 1 and 2. Now, these space probes are no ordinary space probes they have been then any other human or space craft on planet earth!!!!! well they are not on earth now they are in they heliosheath which is.....um.....way out in space. Voyager 1 and 2 were launched in 1977 and are still right now exploring the wonders that space brings. They have been for roughly around 34 years, 8 months and 18 days. You ten year olds out there, the voyagers have been going for over 3 times your life!!!!!!!!! These space probes are REALLY heavy. They are 722 kgs each. Think of your dad and how many of him would make up to 1 of them!!! The voyagers were and are still doing a mission to take photos and send them back to earth so scientists can learn about space. Recently Voyager 1 took a photo of earth and well you couldn't see it!!!! All you could see was the sun which was the same size as a speck. Voyager 1 has been past Saturn and Jupiter. While Voyager 2 has been past Jupiter, Saturn, Mars and Neptune. Voyager 2 is going the opposite direction to Voyager 1 because when voyager 2 went past Jupiter it got caught in Jupiter's gravity. Fortunately instead of crashing into Jupiter Voyager 2 wasn't close enough inside the gravity so it got sling-shot around Jupiter and went the other way. Inside the Voyagers there is a golden record with over 100 photos of earth, 90 mins of the worlds greatest music, loads of sounds from earth like dogs barking and children talking and it has greetings from 60 different languages and 1 whale language!!! It even has the brainwaves of a woman in love!!!!! It was made by Carl Sagan who made it so if 1 of the Voyagers happen to crash and aliens come along They will be able to learn about earth. The scientists think that Voyager 1 and 2 will not reach another star in 4 light years. (40,000 years) The Voyagers have discovered many things from giant volcanoes on different planets to more moons like Titan and Europa. So here is a question for you all...

How far into space have YOU been?

Let me know by commenting if you think I need to change anything.

MY SPEECH

I was hiding behind the class couch hoping not to be seen because I felt VERY nervous and I was the first person that had to share my speech. As soon as I stood up there I knew I would not get away from doing it so I decided to go as fast as I could but that was a shame because the time of the speech had to be above 2:30 and under 3:30. So I got 2:07. After my speech I felt awesome because I had over come a challenge and felt good about it. Something I did well was believing I could do it and I spoke with expression. Next time I want to work on speaking slow and pausing at the right time.

SPEECHES

Pre reflection
In week 9 room15 will do speeches. I feel I will muck up and have a nervous break down I need to focus on eye contact and speaking louder than usual I feel I will muck up because people are staring at you and if you do something wrong people will laugh at you
